Cagnes sur Mer, located between Nice and Antibes, is a town consisting of three different areas, Cagnes-Ville, Cros-de-Cagnes and Hauts-de-Cagnes.Hauts-de-Cagnes is the medieval village where a great castle, Château Grimaldi, was built by an ancestor of the royal family of Monaco in 1309.

Nowadays the castle is an art museum. Cros-de-Cagnes is an old fishing village where boat builders and fishermen built the beautiful little church Chapelle Saint-Pierre. Even nowadays, fishing is still an important industry. The area offers a completely renovated boardwalk, perfect for a stroll along the shore. A visit to the Renoir museum is recommended. August Renoir used to spend his winters in Cagnes-sur-Mer to ease his rheumatic illness thanks to the mild climate. The small and calm town of St Laurent de Var offers great beaches, a nice boardwalk, shops and restaurants.
