Cagnes-sur-Mer, located between Nice and Antibes, is a town consisting of three different areas: Cagnes-Ville, Cros-de-Cagnes and Hauts-de-Cagnes.

The area has about 50,000 habitants on a yearly basis. There is also a promenade where you can have long walks in the sun and stop by one of the many restaurants and bars along the coast. Cagnes-sur-Mer is also the meeting place for all the horse racing fans. It has a huge stadium between the city center and the sea. In this area, there are also markets every Monday, and a lot of green areas.


Hauts-de-Cagnes is a medieval village where a great castle, Château Grimaldi, was built. It was constructed by an member of the royal family of Monaco in 1309. Nowadays the castle Château Grimaldi is an art museum.

Cros-de-Cagnes is an old fishing village. Boat builders and fishermen built the beautiful little church Chapelle Saint-Pierre. Even nowadays, fishing is still an important industry in the village. The area offers a completely renovated boardwalk, perfect for a stroll along the shore.

A visit to the Renoir Museum is recommended. Auguste Renoir spent his winters in Cagnes-sur-Mer to ease his rheumatic illness. At a few kilometers, you will find the small and calm town of Saint-Laurent-du-Var you which has great beaches, a nice boardwalk, shops and restaurants.
