On a hill further back between Nice and Antibes is Vence and its neighbour Saint Paul. The old village offers a lovely atmosphere with beautiful architecture and winding streets. The large square in the centre features traditional boule players and many charming restaurants. The splendid area around Vence is perfect for hiking. The Matisse museum, Chapelle du Rosaire, is highly recommended.

Other villages in the area include St Paul de Vence, Tourrettes-sur-Loup, La-Colle-sur-Loup, La Gaude and St Jeannet. Famous St Paul de Vence is one of the most beautiful villages on the French Riviera. Many authors and artists have come here for inspiration in this unique place, including photographers looking to immortalize the floral display or the beautiful old stone buildings.

The view over Côte d’Azur and the Mediterranean Sea is stunning and the beaches are only 20 minutes away by car.
